After the Great Pause
Hello out there. How is every one? I haven’t blogged in a while …I spent some time asking the question; Is what I have to offer about Aging helpful? All the while, through the challenges this year has brought us, I have been practicing The 5 Tibetans outside in sunshine, shade, and rain or inside when I had to get away from bat poop. (Anyone know how to get rid of a bat?) The 5 Tibetans keep my core strong and my muscles flexible. ( You can click on the May 2018 blog post to read all about the 5 Tibetans) I’m beginning to find that increasing core strength and flexibility…

Independence Day 2020
Because America is a dream, for the whole world, that has not yet been realized, a place and an ideal where everyone lives in brotherhood, freedom, and love. Where the most fortunate in society take good care of the less fortunate, not with a hand out but by reaching out a hand to pull the other up so we can truly stand on the same mountain top, equals. ~Paraphrased from the ideas of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King and Bono My fellow human beings, It has been a long time since I have written. The Great Pause has had many challenging, beautiful and peaceful moments for me and for my…

Younger than last year
Taking stock as 2020 begins, I do feel healthier than last year! I think for 2 main reasons that I can quickly share with you. #1. The Tummy team. I took an online course last year before my hernia surgery. It only cost 90$ and it has changed my core strength and now I find myself sharing it with most of my patients. In summary, participants learn to activate their transverse abdominus muscle, which is our God given girdle. It is a powerful way to relieve back and neck pain, even knees and hips have responded. Having a stronger core certainly improves balance. Go to Tummyteam.com. The pre abdominal surgery…

You Are The Light Of The World
Go. Be. Love. The World Needs You ~ Susan Branch Merry December Dear ones!! To your health and well being! My dear friend told me that everytime we see a sparkle or a light, to let its beauty remind us to come back to our real selves. Who we really are is no less than THE LIGHT OF GOD. Every religion and all wisdom tells us that we were created in the image and likeness of the creative Source. We are all truly God’s sons and daughters! Jesus was one of the enlightened ones who KNEW his true essence with every cell of his being, along with the Budda,…

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
In this beautiful week of Thanksgiving, here are some of the reasons that I am beyond glad to be on the planet. Flannel sheets Claw foot Bathtubs Watching the breezes flow over fields, rippling through the wild grasses and flowers. Water drops, liquid or frozen hanging off every twig and catching the sunlight after a storm. Sitting next to our huge fir tree in snow storms, all cozy in snow clothes. I adore snow clothes. Fires in fireplaces. Cup of tea with daughters and friends. Watching wind and rain fly across the surface of water. People who hug and squish your hands and make you laugh. Sending vast love in…

Accepting our bodies just as they are
I read this quote yesterday and it caused a little sun to explode light in my mind. “The body’s primary function is to communicate love.” ~ A Course In Miracles Whoa I found this wisdom so liberating; an Ah Ha moment, as Oprah says. So often, we don’t relish what is happening with our bodies and we wish to change them. Sometimes we are troubled by aging, sometimes pain, disease, or stress and anxiety. We try to strengthen our muscles and we try to take the best care of ourselves that we can, but this quote frees us to smile and relax while we try for optimal health, for our…

Counting Our Blessings
“ Hear blessings dropping their blossoms around you“ ~ Rumi ”Listen to your Life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness, touch, taste, and smell your way to the holy hidden heart of It because in the last analysis, All moments are key moments and Life itself is Grace.” I don’t know who wrote this beautiful quote but I keep it by my cozy, red, squashy armchair where I sit every winter morning, with a cup of tea and my journal, writing down all the blessings of the previous day. This has been the…

The Miracle of Every Step
“Walking mindfully on the earth, a grassy path, my feet make the promise to embrace the early morning and touch the peace of the present moment.” Thich Nhat Hanh. Hello World! I have been busy learning and just being tongue tied about the wonder of Life. At the beginning of the summer, I was in the magical Kingdom of Sintra, Portugal with my beloved husband. We took a walk, right out of our tiny courtyard and through the woods, all the way from our cottage in Penedo to Sintra. For us this walk has quite a beautiful history; allow me to tell you the story. In the early 1970s, my…

Laughter is the Best Medicine
This morning as I sat on my rock, I prayed and dedicated my practice to all college age students and to every refugee from Tibet: that they ALL might have the deepest peace that passes all understanding. I really hope his Holiness, The Dalai Lama gets to return to Tibet in this lifetime. I think this world would be so much better with a free Tibet where everyone could go and deepen their connection to the All. When I opened my eyes from these prayers, three geese were walking across the last ice remaining on the pond. They looked so funny and awkward, I had to laugh. I wasn’t laughing…
